We’re really pleased to see the opening of Home Ground Kitchen CIC in the newly refurbished Basement space in Rock House using money from Coastal Communities Fund and a successful crowdfunding project.
Home Ground offer hearty lunches and drinks, serving 12-3pm weekdays, as well as offering the spaces for hire, hosting cooking classes, and other projects.
Kate Rintoul, co-founder of Home Ground, says
“We feel really excited, happy and optimistic to be a part of Rock House and their wider ecosystem of interesting community projects. We share a lot of the same goals and intentions about creating welcoming, accessible and well-used spaces that bring the whole community together.
Our plan is to unite people through the food they cook and eat. As well as running an affordable and wholesome daily canteen for local residents, workers and visitors, we’ll also be hosting community cooking classes that empower people to learn essential life skills and develop their knowledge to improve employability and wellbeing.
We’ve already got some exciting projects planned working with Syrian women and children from the local community over the Summer, and we are open to ideas so it would be great to know what our community wants to see happening at Home Ground.”
Home Ground’s menu is changing daily to offer a variety of different dishes from around the world, but they will also offer a veggie/vegan and gluten-free option. They will also shortly be installing their coffee machine which will enable them to sell a selection of Fair Trade and organic hot drinks.
Both the kitchen and the seated space will be rentable – either separately or jointly – for events, meetings, classes, and more. The kitchen is fully fitted and the main space seats up to approx. 50 people. To enquire about hiring it, please get in touch with Kate at email@example.com.
To keep up to date with their activities, follow their Instagram page @HomeGround_Kitchen, and we will try to post their weekly menu every Monday on our Facebook page at facebook.com/RockHse.
